Lakeview Charolais, operated by Rob and Heather Murray near Marwayne, Alberta, runs a purebred Charolais herd alongside a commercial Black Angus herd to produce high-performing seedstock. Their breeding philosophy prioritizes heavy hair coats, naturally thick muscling, sound feet and leg structure, and practical calving ease to maximize performance for commercial cow-calf operations. Utilizing top-tier walking herd sires and genetics sourced from prominent regional programs, they calve in March, grow the calves out on natural pasture, and wean in early November. By evaluating their own Charolais sires directly on their commercial cross-herd, Lakeview Charolais strictly screens its seedstock to ensure the resulting two-year-old bulls and replacement heifers consistently deliver maternal strength and high-yielding calf weights for fellow cattlemen.
